— laptops with at least one M.2 solid-state SSD module that supports NVMe technology (including modules from the Optane series — see the relevant paragraph). It can be either the only drive on board, or an addition to an HDD or SSHD (for more details, see "Drive type")The general features of M.2 SSD are described in the relevant paragraph. As for NVMe, this is special technology used when connecting SSD drives via the PCI-E interface (most of these media use the M.2 connector). Recall that PCI-E is the fastest of the interfaces implemented in the M.2 connector; and NVMe further increases the speed and efficiency of the solid state module. Thus, choosing laptop from this category, you can be sure that the M.2 SSD installed in it uses PCI-E connection, and with an additional “add-on” that further increases performance.
Initially, such equipment was popular among high-performance and gaming configurations (see “By features”), but nowadays there are more and more relatively simple laptops with NVMe drives.
